On 13 September, the Chungcheong Megacity Bid Committee for the 2027 Summer World University Games(the “CMBC,” Secretary-General Kim Yoon-suk) signed the partnership agreement with the Chungcheong Volunteer Center (Daejeon, Sejong, Chungbuk, and Chungnam) at the Sejong Local Autonomy Center for collaboration on the hosting and management of the WUG.

The signing ceremony for the partnership agreement was attended by Secretary-General Kim Yoon-suk of the CMBC, Daejeon Volunteer Center Director Koo Ja-haeng, Sejong Volunteer Center Director Lim Myung-ok, Chungbuk Volunteer Center Director Kwon Seok-kyu, and Chungnam Volunteer Center Director Park Sung-soon. They pledged full cooperation for this first global sports event to be held by Chungcheong Mega City.

Under the agreement, both parties shall cooperate in the operation of a capacity-building in international sports management tailored to volunteers of the Chungncheong Volunteer Center, the mutual promotion for the hosting of the 2027 WUG, and the priority placement of volunteers during the 2027 WUG.

Those who attended the ceremony raised the hope for hosting the Games, saying, “If Chungcheong hosts this WUG, a mega-scale international sports event, it will enhance the self-esteem of residents as well as their understanding of Chungcheong Megacity, not to mention their interest in university sports,” 

Kim Yoon-suk, Secretary-General of the CMBC, added, “We will continue to review the support needed for the Volunteer Center so that the CMBC and the Volunteer Center can gain more experience and grow together through the WUG.”
