Chungcheong Megacity joint delegation returned home with the announcement of hosting the 2027 Summer World University Games

  A joint delegation from the Chungcheong region, which succeeded in hosting the 2027 Summer World University Games (formerly the Summer Universiade), returned home on the 14th (Mon).

The delegation, consisting of provincial governors, councilors, and sports chairmen from four megacities in the Chungcheong region, attended the International Federation of University Sports (FISU) General Assembly in Brussels, Belgium, successfully hosted the 2027 Summer World University Games and returned to Incheon Airport.

Chungcheong Megacity 2027 World University Games Bid committee (hereafter referred to as the Committee) for the 2027 Summer Summer World University Games planned a large-scale welcoming event for the delegation returning home. However, in order to mourn the recent Itaewon disaster, the event was canceled and disbanded after a brief interview and commemorative photo taken under the support of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee.

The Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Cho Yong-man, who attended the FISU General Assembly as a delegation, said in the return report, "Chungcheong region has achieved a great national achievement by hosting the World University Games. Because it is a sports event that the Chungcheong region has worked hard to attract, we will thoroughly prepare for it to be held successfully."

Meanwhile, the committee will change its organization name to the Competition Organization Committee and prepare for the Summer World University Games to be held in August 2027.
