Chungcheong, the Candidate City of Korea for the 2027 Summer WUG
Chungcheong Mega City (Daejeon, Sejong, Chungbuk, Chungnam) was finalized as the Korean candidate city to apply for the bid to host the 2027 Summer World University Games (WUG) at the general meeting of representatives of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) on 3 June.
The Chungcheong region is emerging as the country's center through establishing a new administrative capital city and realizing a metropolitan economic bloc (Mega City).
The 2027 WUG will serve as an opportunity to unlock the potential of Chungcheong, its university students and athletes, and be managed as a sound and healthy event. Above all, it will set a global good practice to follow as the world's first low-cost, high-efficiency WUG co-hosted by four local governments.
The four Chungcheong governors unitedly asked for the support of the Korean people and active support from the central government so that the Chungcheong 2027 Summer WUG could promote Korea and Chungcheong to the world and be held as the most successful WUG ever..
